The Democratic Debates held early in June 2007 reminds me of many recent rants. Again, I recall the depth of my disdain for the lackluster lunacy that passes for Presidential material. Senator Hillary Clinton hails she made the correct decision when she chose to 'support the President' and send our soldiers off to slaughter. Senator Joseph Biden declares "We have worked hard to try and end this war." Barack Obama states it is not easy to do what needs to be done. Yet, experts state these claims are reason for concern.

Schumer Calls For Gonzales' Resignation

Eight United States prosecutors were fired. The reasons for their release seemed suspicious. The tales, statements of purpose, the specifics are forever changing. There is reason for concern.

Seven U.S. attorneys were fired on Dec. 7, and another was let go months earlier, with little explanation from Justice Department officials, who later told Congress that the dismissals were related to their performance in office. Several former prosecutors have since alleged intimidation, including improper telephone calls from GOP lawmakers or their aides, and have alleged threats of retaliation by a Justice Department official.

"This department has been so political that I think for the sake of the nation, Attorney General Gonzales should step down," said Senator Chuck Schumer on Sunday March 11, 2007.

Jim Webb thankfully did speak for the Left and from the heart. I had my fears for the newly elected Senator does have a hawkish past. Senator Webb is known to be a warrior and while he has advocated against the fight in Iraq. His history gave me reason for apprehension. After all the man was Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. Later he served as Secretary of the Navy. Jim Webb was a devout Republican, and rarely are those of that political ilk active pacifists as I am.

It is official, Jim Webb, a novice Senator, a Vietnam veteran, a former Republican, and an advocate against the Iraq war is expected to deliver the Democratic rebuttal to the President's carefully crafted speech, The State of the Union.

Thus far, the newer members of Congress, and as always, the incumbents under whelm my sensibility. Jim Webb is no exception. Senator Webb has a lifelong history of military achievements. While impressive to some, these cause me to wonder. Is he truly antiwar, or only against this battle. Acknowledging that he was once a solid Republican and remained stalwart for a long time, I have reasons to doubt that Jim Webb will speak for me. Nevertheless, for most of America, he is better than Bush, though who is not.

Bush Administration Belies "Land of the Free" ©

The headlines scream. America is not the land of the free or the home of the brave. Moments ago, I came online and opened my Internet connection. The New York Times banner read, Bush and Cheney Rebuff Critics of Iraq Troop Increase. The caption below stated, what the public has long known and apathetically accepted, our Commander-In-Chief does not represent the people of America. He does not care for its citizens. Mister Bush ignores the founding fathers concept of "checks and balances." George W. Bush governs as dictators do, with an iron fist.

President Bush insisted that he has the authority to send more troops to Iraq even without the approval of Congress.

I read further and found greater reason for my indignation.

"I fully understand they could try to stop me from doing it,” he said in a taped interview for the CBS News program “60 Minutes” that is to be broadcast this evening. “But I’ve made my decision. And were going forward.”
