Condition; "Critical" copyright © 2008 Betsy L. Angert. BeThink.org Twas the night before Election Day and my mind, heart, body, and soul were filled with fright. I fear I did not do enough; nor could I have, to truly bring about change. I more needed time with those that trust me or were still open to reflection. When last I made calls for candidate Barack Obama, I was slammed, damned, and spoken to with much disdain. Similar occurred when I stood on a street corner and waved my signs. Granted, I saw and heard there was much support. Still, I had friends who would not vote for Senator Obama. Several were sure that they preferred John McCain and Sarah Palin. Then, there was John Michael Rubens. John is eligible, older; he is registered. This fine fellow has cast many a ballot in his lifetime. Doctor Rubens is prominent pillar of the community. The well-trained physician is a scholar. He cares. Yet, he would not cast a ballot for either candidate.John's positions affected my faith. Everywhere I went, other people told me to believe, to be hopeful. However, I knew that no matter who entered the Oval Office, blood would be spilled. On battlefields abroad and on the streets of America, brutality born of terror would continue to flow. For some people weapons wield strength. Innumerable individuals use words to kill. Some take advantage of signatures on insurance forms, benefits no longer offered with salaries, or just the Health Care system. Oh my! "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough Fuck you slip, on air. copyright © 2008 Betsy L. Angert. BeThink.org Words cannot express the shock and awe in the audience, amongst fellow broadcasters, and from Joe Scarborough himself when he realized he uttered the dreaded dictum. All that can be said, with dignity, is the utterance, Mister Scarborough's spouse expressed in a text message. "Oh my!" Betsy L. Angert :: Oh my! While most are lost, and looking for the proper lexis, Glenn Greenwald offered his own reaction. He recounted an historical anecdote. The Salon scholar spoke of the Janet Jackson incident, commonly called the "wardrobe malfunction." The author reminds readers, during the prominently placed and much viewed television event, the Super Bowl 2004, spectators saw a glimpse of Miss Jackson's voluptuous breast. Then, as the million's searched for an instant replay, an outraged Joe Scarborough stated, massive fines must be imposed against any network that would air such smut. At the time, the former United States House of Representative, Scarborough, reflected on the past and how it portends the future. The vexed MSNBC host, voiced his angst about occurrences in the past and how these were not handled well. Joe Scarborough recalled, the Government thought to forego penalties after another celebrity expressed what Morning Joe thought unforgivable. Live, as he accepted a Grammy award, U2 bandleader belched the belligerent term "F" in reference to the mainstream music industry. Years ago, in a calm and controlled rant Joe Scarborough stated . . . But, first, the FCC is asleep at the wheel. And it is your family who's being hurt . . . . Last night, as my boys and their friends sat around the TV set watching the Super Bowl, I spent the first half fielding questions about the 20 commercials for...
